Fisher Communications TV Stations KOMO in Seattle and KATU in Portland Embrace 'Beat the Traffic' 3D Technology

SEATTLE, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Fisher Communications TV stations KOMO (www.komotv.com) and KATU (www.katu.com) are about to debut groundbreaking BeatTheTraffic(TM) Three Dimensional Mapping and Forecasts for traffic broadcasts.

"We chose to do business with BeatTheTraffic.com because they are innovators who are at the forefront of information display. BeatTheTraffic technology gives an intuitive and realistic look at traffic conditions. Traffic Forecasting is a unique, breakthrough technology that will tell viewers the time traffic is expected to start backing up, and how long a trip will take on specific days." Says Jim Tellus, News Director at Seattle's KOMO.

"Cars in stop-and-go traffic use much more gasoline and pollute significantly more than when traffic flows freely. As we need to conserve ever more our energy resources, Traffic Forecasts, an exclusivity of KATU, KOMO, and KOMO 1000 radio will be an invaluable tool for visualizing and forecasting such effects. Better-informed drivers can take their part in using energy most efficiently for the benefit of all," Says Mike Rausch, News Director at Portland's KATU.

BeatTheTraffic(TM) will debut on KOMO this fall; Debut on KATU will be announced shortly.

The BeatTheTraffic.com system comprises a personalized Internet component, reporting in real-time delays on any number of routes, as well as suggested faster alternate routes. Tied to a statistical database, BeatTheTraffic(TM) also tracks how traffic conditions develop over time, and combines accumulated data with holiday traffic information to generate 7-day forecasts for travel.

"The system can also notify users of delays straight to mobile phones, saving time and aggravation," says Andre Gueziec, president and CEO of Triangle Software LLC who operates "BeatTheTraffic" and the www.BeatTheTraffic.com website. "Together with Fisher Communications, we will win and show the world innovative traffic displays".

Fisher Communications, Inc. is a Seattle-based integrated media company. Its nine network-affiliated television stations, and a tenth station 50% owned by Fisher Communications, are located in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, and its 27 radio stations broadcast in Washington and Montana.
