Moxi(TM) Media Center and UniTV Interoperability Opens Door to Delivering Moxi Telephone Services on Networks with Circuit-Switched or Hybrid Voice Architectures
KIRKLAND, Wash., and BURLINGTON, Mass., Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Digeo, Inc., a leading provider of media center software and services, and Integra5 Communications, the pioneer in converged quad-play messaging and communications technology, today announced completion of interoperability between the Moxi(TM) Media Center and Integra5's UniTV converged services platform.
The Moxi Media Center was developed by Digeo and includes Moxi Telephone, an on-screen TV interface to popular features such as caller ID, call logging and message control. Adding these telephone features to the TV enhances the viewer experience, helps generate incremental revenue and complements cable telephony services.
Designed to work with both traditional and advanced set-top boxes, Integra5's UniTV converged services platform provides real-time delivery of signaling information and content across four different kinds of networks -- television (cable, satellite and IPTV), data, telephony (VoIP and public- switched telephone) and cellular networks. Interoperability with Integra5's UniTV converged services platform will allow cable operators with circuit- switched or hybrid voice networks to offer advanced telephony and messaging services to Moxi Media Center customers, easing the transition to IP-based voice networks.
"Interoperability with UniTV allows deployment of Moxi Telephone on a much wider scale," said Bert Kolde, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Digeo, Inc. "Now operators can provide Moxi Telephone over both VoIP and traditional voice networks, allowing them to offer attractive bundling packages and potentially increase average revenue per user."
In networks with circuit-switched or hybrid voice architectures, UniTV receives call signaling and control information and then forwards it to the Moxi Media Center, which then displays caller ID and message information on the subscriber's television.
"This work with Digeo underscores our firm commitment to multi-vendor interoperability, particularly with both traditional and advanced set-top boxes," said Eyal Bartfeld, president and CEO of Integra5. "The platform- agnostic, standards-based nature of UniTV levels the competitive playing field, allowing any broadband operator to capitalize on profitable quad-play converged services opportunities, regardless of the type of set-top box, telephony or other devices in their network."
The Moxi Media Center is a television media center with an Emmy(R) award- winning user interface that delivers a full range of digital entertainment capabilities, generating greater revenue and reducing customer churn for cable operators. The Moxi Media Center includes a dual-tuner HDTV digital video recorder (DVR), enabling the user to watch one channel while recording another, as well as pause and replay live TV. Viewers can quickly search for and select On Demand video content and access instant weather, sports and news via an interactive information ticker. In addition to Moxi Telephone, the Moxi Media Center enables cable operators to offer subscribers other services including a wide selection of games and management of digital photos and music.
Integra5's UniTV converged services platform combines signal and media delivery from multiple networks (telephone, data, cellular and cable TV), back office communications and a flexible service creation environment to enable high-demand products, such as caller ID, voicemail messaging and other advanced communications services to new devices, such as TVs and PCs. The UniTV platform supports Integra5's three product suites, UniTV Visual Telephony, UniTV Visual Messaging and UniComposer(TM), and has been commercially deployed by service providers since mid 2004.
