Coors Brewing Company Supports the Indiana Black Expo's American Family Insurance Classic Weekend
GOLDEN, Colo., Sept. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Coors Brewing Company today announced that it is a proud sponsor of the American Family Insurance Classic Weekend featuring the Coca-Cola Circle City Classic Football Game, presented by the Indiana Black Expo, Inc. (IBE) and the Indiana Sports Corporation. The three-day extravaganza, which takes place Friday, September 30 through Saturday, October 1, in downtown Indianapolis, celebrates cultural and educational excellence and showcases the spirit and tradition of America's historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). Several major events are sponsored by Coors, including the 18th Annual Coors Light IBE/CCC Golf Outing and the Coors Light Friday-Nite Classic Cabaret starring Dennis Edwards and the Temptations, Lakeside, Johnny Gill and Bell Biv Devoe.
Another major highlight of the American Family Insurance Classic Weekend is the Coca-Cola City Classic Football Game, an exciting gridiron clash this year between Tennessee State University (TSU) and North Carolina A&T State University (NCAT). The Coca-Cola Circle City Classic is one of the top black college football classics in America. This year's rivalry kicks off at the RCA Dome at 4 p.m., CST on Saturday, October 1. The game will also feature a half-time performance by the powerful TSU Aristocrat of Bands and the mighty NCAT Blue & Gold Marching Machine.
Coors has been a sponsor of the Circle City Classic for 15 years. The event draws more then 175,000 people to downtown Indianapolis and generates up to $100,000 in scholarship funds each year. "Once again, we are proud to share in the tradition and excitement surrounding this action-packed weekend and its tremendous impact on the community," says Ervin Lee, director of the Coors On Point marketing program. "It's a great way to show our support of America's HBCUs and community partners such as the Indiana Black Expo."
According to Joyce Rogers, president of IBE, the 35-year old organization's vision is to help African-American families achieve their highest potential and reflect pride in their ethnicity. "Our success as a catalyst for positive change in the community in critical areas such as education, health and economic development would not have been possible without the consistent and generous support Coors has given us for so many years," Rogers says.
Coors-sponsored events at the American Family Insurance Classic Weekend begin Friday, September 30, with the 18th Annual Coors Light IBE/CCC Golf Outing (10:30 a.m. CST shotgun start), followed by the Coors Light Friday-Nite Classic Cabaret, an 8 p.m. CST concert at the Indiana Convention Center. On Saturday, October 1, Coors will sponsor FallFest 2005, a free all-day community festival at the Pan Am Plaza starting at 10:30 a.m. CST, and the post-game Greek Step Down at the Indiana Convention Center starting at 7 p.m. CST.
