Comcast Creates Hundreds of Jobs in Sacramento Area with New $12M Technical Operations Center

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Sept. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA)(NASDAQ:CMCSK), the country's leading cable and broadband communications provider, broke ground today on a new $12 million Technical Operations Center located at 1242 National Drive in Natomas. When the new 64,000 square foot service and support center opens next June, it will replace the current Comcast operations building on Pell Drive in Natomas and house more than 550 employees.

"Approximately 300 jobs are being generated to build the facility today, and 175 new Comcast positions will be created when the building opens in June 2006," said Dan McCarty, Area Vice President for Comcast. "Primarily, we will be hiring frontline technicians to support our video and high-speed Internet business, and to help us launch Comcast Digital Voice throughout the Sacramento area in 2006."

Sacramento area residents will have improved customer service from Comcast because of operational efficiencies made possible by the new facility. It is the first Comcast building to include a professionally designed warehouse with an innovative system for distributing cable modems and set-top boxes. The new systems will require field technicians to check in at the warehouse only once a day, not twice, leaving them more time to spend on customer service.

The building site is an existing, undeveloped lot of nine acres at the southwest corner of National Drive and Vista Park Court. The one-story building is a total of 64,050 square feet including 36,900 square feet of high-tech office space and 27,150 square feet of warehouse space. The facility will be used only by Comcast employees.
