Free Concert Promotes "The Smartest Card" Campaign
PITTSBURGH, Sept. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Good things are happening in Pittsburgh on Thursday, September 29 at 7 p.m. That's when Pittsburgh singer and songwriter Bill Deasy is set to perform in Oakland at Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh-Main, 4400 Forbes Avenue. The free outdoor concert on the Library's lawn is tied into a month long library card registration campaign currently underway throughout the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County.
Deasy will feature songs from his latest CD, Chasing Down A Spark as well as favorites such as Good Things Are Happening and Fall Into You. Deasy, a library advocate, is holding the free concert to support "The Smartest Card" campaign, which promotes library card use and encourages everyone to sign up for a free card during September, "National Library Card Month."
Before Deasy was a solo artist, he spent seven years with the Gathering Field, a band he helped to form in 1994. Today, Deasy also writes songs for other artists and travels regularly to Nashville to collaborate. The Pittsburgh native also has performed as an opening act for such artists as John Mellencamp, Norah Jones, and Bob Dylan.
