RealAge Announces the Results of BBC TV Event 'Are You Younger Than You Think?'

Winning Health Program Provides Stellar TV Ratings

SAN DIEGO, July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- RealAge, Inc., a leading health media company helping people live longer, healthier lives, announced today that the United Kingdom is younger than calendar age would suggest. The news comes from the July 16 BBC One TV special -- "Are You Younger Than You Think?" -- which won its Saturday night timeslot by giving the popular RealAge test to a British studio audience, home viewers, and celebrity guests including Jane Seymour and Jerry Hall, to see how their RealAge, or biological age, compared to their calendar age.

The show revealed the RealAge of the average U.K. citizen is 1 year younger than his or her calendar age. Ms. Seymour, star of Wedding Crashers, learned her RealAge is 49.25, 4.75 years younger than her calendar age. She attributed her young RealAge to her love of Pilates. Ms. Hall, a VH1 reality show star and former model best known for her years with Rolling Stones front man Mick Jagger, discovered her RealAge is 47, two years younger than her calendar age.

Featuring the RealAge test, the live, interactive two-hour special received a share rating of 21.8% of the TV viewing audience and an overall audience of 3.9 million. The next most-highly rated show, a much anticipated sports event in the United Kingdom, received a 17.9% share and overall audience of 3.1 million, according to media analysis consultant David Graham & Associates Metrics.

The show's audience comprised a representative sample of the United Kingdom's population, so the test results statistically reflected the RealAge for the entire population, making the show a national call to action for better health. Hosted by British TV and radio personality Des Lynam and several celebrity commentators, "Are You Younger Than You Think?" included hot health topics that impact a person's RealAge, such as blood pressure, physical activity, driving habits, and sex.

Estimates indicate over 300,000 U.K. residents took the scientifically valid RealAge test online through the TV program's Web site, with more people taking the test on paper, on their mobile phones, and through interactive television. The RealAge test and personalized recommendations for a healthier lifestyle are available free at www.RealAge.com.

This is the second time the popular global RealAge brand has been used for a European broadcast event. "Je Echte Leeftjid" (Dutch for "Your Real Age") will begin its fourth season later this year on RTL 4, the largest station in the Netherlands. Since its premiere, more than 1.5 million people have completed the Dutch version of the RealAge test, with 24% of the population tuning in for the program.
