New Teen TV Drama to Start Filming and Production 'Let the TV Wars Begin Between the North and South'

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., July 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Move over reality TV, the reality here is two teen dramas battling out for big bucks and the big teen TV audience this fall, and it has the North against the South. A hot new true- to-life drama flaring in South Carolina is called "Palmetto Pointe." It is pitted against Warner Brothers "One Tree Hill," in North Carolina. The big difference is "Palmetto Pointe." is based on real teen life experiences that will touch people's lives forever.

"Palmetto Pointe." is the flagship teen drama for Paxson Communications Corp. PAX-TV network, which renamed itself with one letter -- i -- ("ionline.tv") last Friday, while realigning its mission as a provider of independently produced television that reaches 84 percent of U.S. households -- approximately 91 million homes.

Move over "One Tree Hill!" The new teen drama "Palmetto Pointe." which is already been compared in several publications to hit TV dramas, such as "90210" and "Dawson's Creek" is taking Hollywood by surprise and begins filming July 15th in Charleston, South Carolina. Additionally, it's the first TV series filmed in the Palmetto State. "With a fresh new cast that has been called "excellent" by the Reel Carolina Film and Television Journal the show is sure to excel," said Executive Producer John Cleveland Kearns. Timothy Woodward, Jr and Brent Lovell are just two of the hot upcoming young actors that Palmetto Pointe has to offer." Casting Director, David Schifter has referred to them as the "Ben Affleck and Matt Damon" of the Carolina's.

The TV show airs in August, Sunday Nights at 8:00 pm. on the PAX TV network, which changed to "i TV Network" last Friday, effective July 1st. "Unlike other TV shows, our shows are based on real life situations, the cultural shock and wild and crazy alternating experiences of going from high school to college," explained Kearns who's filming in Summerville, South Carolina. "We're reaching all of the demographics and issues that hit home." The i Network has picked "Palmetto Pointe." for 17 original episodes, and a total of 39 weekly showings, including re-runs. Filming starts next week for six months or longer if the i Network continues to carry it.
