GolTV Connects With Coca-Cola

Another Big Advertiser to Join GolTV's Lineup

MIAMI, July 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Perhaps the only other thing as popular as Coca-Cola is soccer. Well aware of this reality, the world's biggest soft drink maker has chosen GolTV to promote not only its product, but its advertising channels as well.

GolTV has been a sensation thanks to its soccer-only programming and the channel is now also airing "Sabor a Gol," a weekly five-minute segment showing the week's best goals from local and international leagues and tournaments from around the world.

A soccer channel, featuring the most spectacular goals means choosing the very best of its programming. But "Sabor a Gol" will also showcase other parts of Coca-Cola's promotional portfolio.

In between the countdown of the weekly presentation of the Top 10 goals, GolTV will also showcase a history-making goal or a recent one made by the Mexican national team, also sponsored by Coca-Cola. "Everything we are doing is totally integrated with their marketing initiatives. We found a way to account for their needs and to offer them much more than the traditional advertising options," says Eileen Montalvo, Vice-president of Sales and Marketing.

The approach structured and proposed by GolTV offers its clients an added value proposition compared to the traditional TV commercial and provides the client with a platform for its advertising strategy.

Coca-Cola joins other world-famous brand names such as Visa and Volkswagen, which as of this year have also signed-up to sponsor entire segments of league broadcasts and soccer newscasts.

"It's no longer a question of just selling a 30-second spot. Things have to be more interactive, better marketed, and more integrated into the programming," says Montalvo.

For a channel that has been breaking new ground from the beginning, there is nothing new about being at the cutting edge in advertising.

After less than two years, GolTV now has close to eight million viewers -- making it the fastest growing independent network. Not only does GolTV broadcast the best leagues in the world (from Spain, Italy and Brazil) and various European and Latin American national tournaments, it also broadcasts simultaneously in English and Spanish, reaching both Hispanic and English- speaking audiences.

Montalvo says that her sales department is guided by the principle of adapting to the needs of viewers and advertisers, while keeping an eye on external requirements. After all, only the fastest, most agile, and most responsive survive in the world of soccer.

You can see "Sabor a Gol" on GolTV every Friday at 8:50 p.m. ET and at 1:20 a.m. ET.
