Leading In-Room Entertainment Company Launches New Group Content Management Feature in World-Class Hotel Brand
DENVER, June 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- On Command Video Corporation, a leading provider of in-room interactive entertainment for the hotel industry and its guests, and Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, announced today an exclusive six-year agreement whereby On Command's in-room video-on-demand pay-per-view system, including new group feature functionality designed for Fairmont, will be installed in Fairmont Hotels across Canada.
Under the agreement, On Command will provide in-room pay-per-view entertainment for 9,500 guest rooms and 18 Fairmont hotels in Canada. These hotels will be equipped with On Command's Roommate(TM) platform and CANVAS(TM) software.
On Command's proprietary CANVAS(TM) software and menu system bring a number of key benefits to in-room entertainment operations. In addition to offering the industry's largest number of VOD options to the guest, On Command can also deliver a video concierge to the guest via the television. "This service enables the hotel to deliver customized information directly to the guest via the television," said Tad Walden, senior vice president of marketing and programming for On Command. "This technology will enable the hotel to modify the system and communicate unique messages to specific groups of guests."
Fairmont's installation intends to leverage the television power-on channel to broadcast content to its conference and meeting clientele. "The capabilities, which Fairmont has built on top of the CANVAS(TM) software, enable us to further personalize the guest experience. For example, a Meeting Planner may now enhance a conference welcome message by publishing an agenda and video introduction directly to the television in the attendee guest room," said Tim Aubrey, senior vice president finance, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. "This messaging will be mirrored across existing digital touch-points in the hotel including our check-in kiosks and high-speed Internet portals."
