Los Angeles Pop Art, LLC Signs Licensing Agreement With Universal Studios Consumer Products Group for Universal Pictures' Epic Film Scarface

Los Angeles Pop Art, LLC Signs Licensing Agreement With Universal Studios Consumer Products Group for Universal Pictures' Epic Film Scarface

LOS ANGELES, June 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Los Angeles Pop Art, LLC announced today that it has signed a multi-year licensing agreement with Universal Studios Consumer Products Group to create a unique collection of artwork inspired by the epic film, Scarface.

Working with Universal, Los Angeles Pop Art has created an original work of art by combining the script from the 1983 film and using a centuries old style of art called, "Micrography." Micrography is a technique that creates art out of the words that tell the story of that specific image. All done by hand, the words are construed and arranged in a way that makes up a final image. From afar, it looks like a solid piece of artwork; however, as you step closer, one is amazed to learn that the entire image is actually composed of legible words.

The final artwork, which is a silhouette of Al Pacino from the film, is created using all the words from Oliver Stones' 1983 script. This art will complement the well-established Scarface licensing program already available at retail. Posters and Canvas reprints are currently available at www.lapopart.com, and will be available at retail stores worldwide in the coming months.

"Scarface is one of those rare films that has picked up momentum over time. With each passing year, the film grows more and more popular as new generations are introduced to it," said Joseph Leibovic, president of Los Angeles Pop Art, LLC. "The script is a masterpiece, and is one of the most quotable films of all time. The combination of classic images and a legendary script made it the perfect choice for our artwork. This art is more than wall decor; this is completely interactive, as one can find a different line from the film every time they look at it. We are honored to be working alongside and have the support of Universal Studios on this product."

"Los Angeles Pop Art brings forward a unique Scarface product that we feel consumers around the world will appreciate," stated Cynthia Modders, senior vice president of licensing and retail development, Universal Studios Consumer Products Group. "The artwork is truly amazing, and we look forward to building a strong relationship with Los Angeles Pop Art."
