The flying bronze cow was the last of three that make Kelly's monumental sculpture, '3 Cows in a Pile'. Its installation on the Greenfields site, the hill behind the main stage, is one of finishing touches before the opening of the 35th Glastonbury Festival on Friday (June 24th).

Weighing six-tons and measuring seven metres long and six metres high the sculpture will feature prominently at the Festival. The Greenfields site is above the main stage, the Pyramid, and will be visible from most vantage points.

It's not the first unusual or exotic location for a John Kelly sculpture. His previous exhibits include 'Cow Up a Tree' at the Les Champs de la Sculpture (2000) on the Champ des Champs-Elysees, Paris and the debut of 'Three Cows in a Pile' at the La Parade des Animaux, in the Casino Gardens in Monte Carlo in 2002.

The Glastonbury Festivals 130,000 tickets were sold out several months ago. It's numbers are a far cry from the first festival which begin as a party in a Somerset field in 1970.

Besides artists Elvis Costello, Steve Earle, Fatboy Slim and dozens of others one of the unusual features at this years festival wil be a silent disco. After complaints about the noise from neighbours, organizers replaced amplified speakers with headphones for individual dancers.
