SmithGeiger Names John Culliton, Senior VP to Oversee Media Strategies
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., May 2 /PRNewswire/ -- SmithGeiger, LLC announced today that John Culliton -- an experienced major market TV general manager and new media entrepreneur -- has joined the company as Senior Vice President of Media Strategies. In this role, Mr. Culliton will be responsible for developing media and technology related services and products as well as working with the company to create a new paradigm in research and strategic partnerships for broadcast media, cable, entertainment and digital media.
During his tenure in local TV, Mr. Culliton led one of America's most dominant TV stations -- WCCO in Minneapolis -- as a news director and general manager before being tapped to run KCBS in Los Angeles where he repositioned the station as a credible and successful force in the market. For the past three years he served as the Vice President and General Manager at KNXV TV in Phoenix Arizona. Mr. Culliton revamped and reinvigorated the station's news, local programming and revenue. Prior to his role at KNXV, Mr. Culliton was involved in founding several technology companies including Internet Broadcast Systems (IBS) which co-owns and operates the websites of broadcasters in most of the major markets and Digital Cyclone where he helped create a web and wireless based weather radar and forecast product known as MyCast
During his career, Mr. Culliton has been awarded numerous national, state and local awards for excellence in broadcasting including a Columbia DuPont for investigative reporting the National Edward R. Murrow award as station of the year as well as top investigative station.
