House Films Announces Funding Pulled for Quest China

NEW YORK, May 6 /PRNewswire/ -- House Films is sad to announce that production on "Quest China, Da Tiao Zhan" the international reality show has been stopped due to the withdrawal of promised funding from AZN Television.

After having broadcast the first season "Quest USA, Da Tiao Zhan" last year, on International Channel TV (now known as AZN Television), in October AZN approached us about co-producing the second season of our show.

During a December conference call, the head of AZN TV told an executive at Shanghai Media Group that he was committed to producing the show in conjunction with them. We had a signed deal memo with AZN TV by January and a finalized contract with them by March. Relying on our AZN TV contracts, we closed deals with Shanghai Media Group for production and distribution in China and host David Wu. We had completed our location scout in China, secured our locations and were making final arrangements for shooting. On April 29th, 4 weeks before we were scheduled to leave for China, AZN TV's new VP of production threw our production into doubt. As of May 6th they have decided to pull our funding.

Sarah Zhang, the executive producer stated; "This is devastating for us. At what point does AZN TV stand behind their agreements?"

"We produced this show last year to bring an Asian perspective to the reality show genre. We were excited when we heard that AZN TV was interested in our show and that they planed to offer a voice to the Asian community. We're disappointed that they apparently have decided to ape other reality shows rather than experiment and help find an Asian voice in TV."
