LAS VEGAS, May 3 /PRNewswire/ -- On the heels of EmergeCore Networks' win as PC Magazine network server appliance of the year, the company today announced that it will launch new "intellitainment"(TM) functionality. Through this business expansion, EmergeCore will deliver IP services to home and entertainment devices as one of the company's primary new industry roles.

As EmergeCore continues to build new technology for the SMB market on the award-winning IT-100 platform, the company has also announced an expansion into the home entertainment connectivity realm. In this new role, EmergeCore will leverage its expertise in delivering IP services, and its ability to bring diverse functionality together within a single device, to provide the feature platform for products and services designed for the home. EmergeCore's new operating system for the connected home industry will be marketed under the trademarked name "HomeCore"(TM).

Company officials stated that intellitainment, unlike simple home networking, is defining an entirely new level of interaction between home entertainment centers, computers, and even wireless PDAs.

In the new intellitainment category, EmergeCore will leverage the company's expertise in the delivery of IP services to every variety of connected and wireless device. For example, the HomeCore operating system will make it possible to send instant messages to other family members by flashing a message directly to the television set. Likewise, it will be possible to access personal or group calendars or contacts from any television or home device in front of you, without having to get up and check your personal computer.

The resulting convergence will allow EmergeCore to revolutionize the home and entertainment industry with the ability to manage, monitor and control home devices from any web-enabled device.

While it is possible that EmergeCore will release a complete all-in-one intellitainment appliance, the company envisions that the majority of the new HomeCore functionality will be delivered in partnership with hardware developers. The company anticipates that the first intellitainment enabled products will reach the marketplace during the first quarter of 2006.
