Nation's Largest Private Accredited Art & Design School to Hold Cutting-Edge Fashion, Art and Design Shows During 2005 Class Graduation Week

SAN FRANCISCO, April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The following is being issued by the Academy of Art University:

What: The nation's largest, private, accredited art & design school, the San Francisco Academy of Art University (http://www.academyart.edu/), will host a runway fashion show and juried art and design "Spring Show." (Juried entries are judged before they are viewed by the public). Each Academy school will hold art and design shows displaying best-of-the-best examples of work by the Academy's top-notch students in all 12 schools including acting, animation and industrial design.

Where: Fashion Show: Morgan Auditorium, Academy of Art University, 491 Post St. @ Mason St. Spring Show: 79 New Montgomery St. and 180 New Montgomery St. @ Mission St.

When: Fashion Show: May 25, 4pm-5 pm Spring Show dates: May 26, 7pm-9pm, May 27-August 13, 10am-6pm. Closed Sunday's and holidays.

Background: The Academy of Art University was established in 1929. The Academy's School of Fashion is known for its cutting edge designs and incorporating sustainable fibers into its courses and runway fashions. Its graduates have gone on to work for Marc Jacobs, Alexander McQueen and John Galliano, among many others. The Academy's School of Motion Pictures and Television takes advantage of the San Francisco area's film studios, such as ILM and Pixar, where scores of alumni move on to work professionally after training at them, as well as LA-based DreamWorks and other studios. This year (2004-2005), the School of Motion Pictures and Television launched a new acting program directed by actress Diane Baker, whose credits include "ER," "The Diary of Ann Frank," and "Silence of the Lambs."
