Live Broadcast Event From Washington D.C. Honors Everyday Heroes
ATLANTA, April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Weather fans voted with their hearts, and last night The Weather Channel awarded the first ever Heroes of the Storm Award, honoring the heroic actions of everyday people caught up in extraordinary weather experiences.
During a live television event broadcast from Washington, D.C., a team of rescuers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department were honored for their heroic efforts to help rescue more than sixty people caught in an unexpected flash flood in the Las Vegas desert. The rescue was featured in the show Las Vegas Flash Flood which was broadcast on April 12th.
Over the past week, thousands of viewers from coast to coast cast their vote at http://www.weather.com/ and selected a winner among a list of ten nominees highlighted during Heroes of the Storm, an original 10-part program, which aired during the week of April 10th.
