Comcast Cable Launches Expanded Hispanic Programming Packages in Denver

Comcast Cable Launches Expanded Hispanic Programming Packages in Denver

Up to Eight New, Popular Channels Added, Plus Video-on-Demand Programming and Commercial Free Music

DENVER, April 11 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of its commitment to offer programming that meets the different cultural needs of its customers, Comcast, the country's leading cable and broadband communications provider, announced the launch of greatly enhanced Spanish-language programming packages available today that include up to eight new, popular channels and more than 100 hours of Spanish-language video-on-demand content, bringing a wide range of entertainment and information to the Hispanic community.

The CableLatino(TM) package includes basic cable programming, plus more than 20 of the most-requested and highly valued Spanish-language channels and ON DEMAND en espanol service, at a reduced price of just $27.99 -- $1 less than previously offered. Other packages are available that offer additional Spanish- and English-language programming. All Hispanic programming customers receive a digital cable box that also provides an interactive on-screen program guide with parental controls and access to pay-per-view movies, sports and special events, and 14 channels of Latin music.

As part of these services, Denver-area customers can choose from more than 100 hours of free ON DEMAND en espanol programming any time, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. ON DEMAND also offers more than 3,000 hours of free English-language ON DEMAND content. Using their Comcast Cable remote control, customers can control their video-on-demand selections with DVD-like functionality that lets them pause, rewind and fast-forward the shows. True video-on-demand -- with a library of thousands of programming hours -- is not offered through satellite TV services.

"Offering free and expanded Hispanic programming packages and ON DEMAND en espanol are examples of how Comcast listens to our customers and offers them programming that reflects their diverse interests," said Scott Binder, senior vice president of Comcast Colorado. "Using our unique two-way network, we can bring viewers more choices and more value than our competitors."

The new programming packages, which include Canal Sur, Gol TV, TBN en Lace, Infinito, Video Rola, Sorpresa!, Si TV, and Grande Documentales, were added based on customer feedback about the needs and lifestyles of the growing Hispanic consumer base. They expand programming offerings to include more highly valued Spanish- and English-language video and audio channels and include a variety of movies, sports, family and educational programming. Canal 52 MX and HITN-TV are scheduled to be added to the lineup in the near future. Widely popular networks Azteca America, Telemundo, Telefutura, Galavision and Univision already are offered to Comcast customers.

The new programming complements the Hispanic programming first introduced in 2000. CineLatino, CNN en Espanol, Discovery en Espanol, The History Channel en Espanol, FOX SPORTS en Espanol, MTV Espanol, Casa Club TV, Toon Disney en Espanol, TVE Internacional and Cine Mexicano remain as part of the enhanced packages. In addition, the packages include 14 Spanish-language music channels and up to 40 audio channels. No long-term contracts are required to access the services.

Customers can upgrade their service as desired to include other advanced products, such as high-speed Internet service and HDTV.
