BB Cable Corp. Licenses SecureMedia's Encryptonite System(TM) to Secure Broadcast Music Service
NATICK, Maine and TOKYO, April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- SecureMedia, Inc., a leading provider of conditional access (CA) and digital rights management (DRM) software solutions, announced today that BB Cable Corp. of Japan, a subsidiary of SOFTBANK BB Corp. has employed and licensed SecureMedia's Encryptonite System(TM) software to secure its broadcast music service, BB Audio, which commercially debuted on December 19, 2004. The Encryptonite System provides encryption and user conditional access for BB Audio music service which is distributed over the Yahoo! BB ADSL network.
BB Audio music service presently serves consumers and commercial business establishments with multiple channels of music programming under a subscription business model. Subscribers receive the music service through a specialized receiver device that incorporates the Encryptonite client software. The streaming music programming is delivered in the Windows Media Audio format.
SecureMedia's Encryptonite System is an open platform CA/DRM software solution that can secure virtually any media type including audio, video, graphics and text. The system operates on a variety of hardware and operating system platforms and features an ultra-light and processor-efficient client for low cost integration in resource constrained CE devices, set-top boxes, etc. Encryptonite provides content owners and distributors the highest levels of digital content security while offering service providers operational flexibility and low overhead performance.
