Why Smooth R&B Contemporary Jazz Artist, Jessica Knox, Will Launch Her 2005 Tour in Santa Cruz

SANTA CRUZ, Calif., March 16 /PRNewswire/ -- On March 23rd, Smooth R&B / Urban Soul and Contemporary Jazz Artist, Jessica Knox, is set to launch her 2005 tour in Santa Cruz at The Crow's Nest on pure inspiration and good business sense.

Why Santa Cruz Mayor, Mike Rotkin isn't surprised --

This Santa Cruz Mayor isn't surprised by much these days, especially when it comes to the growing Santa Cruz music scene. "One of our best kept secrets in Santa Cruz is the music," reveals Santa Cruz Mayor, Mike Rotkin. "Santa Cruz has become somewhat of a beacon for music artists like Jessica Knox and music lovers."

Santa Cruz has established itself as an essential stop on the Jazz circuit for Jazz artists playing Yoshi's or the Monterey Jazz Festival. Its own Santa Cruz Jazz Festival for young musicians celebrates 20 years this March. In 2004, Santa Cruz was host to numerous music entertainers, including Wynton Marsalis, Dianne Reeves, and John Whelan. This year that list will include Jessica Knox.

"The Santa Cruz ocean views and surf have always been an inspiration to me," Jessica Knox shares. "So, Santa Cruz seems the perfect place to launch a tour."

Ringing Santa Cruz endorsements also come from Jessica Knox band members, Dave Mac Nab -- guitarist featured on late night TV with Leno, Letterman, and Conan -- and Eric Crystal -- sax player whose performance in Boz Scaggs' "But Beautiful - Standards Vol. 1" helped take it to #1 on the Billboard charts. Both played at Kuumbwa this past Fall.

When asked, "Why Santa Cruz?" Dave Mac Nab advises, "Don't underestimate the value of the Santa Cruz market, these coastal areas can be an important element of any bay area tour -- especially for artists like Jessica Knox that feature some contemporary Jazz in their shows."

Look Who's Crowing at The Crow's Nest --

"We're looking forward to having Jessica Knox here," smiles entertainment manager, Blaine Neagley, of the Santa Cruz based Crow's Nest. Neagley appreciates Jessica's groovy rhythms enwrapped in the lush sophistication of her cool Jazz phrasings with just a twist of Latin. "Jessica Knox is a perfect match for our upscale ambiance -- she's a class act, and we're a class act," says Neagley.

Special guests, Robin Campbell & The Generations, add a smoky mix of blues and soft rock to the show. The Crow's Nest features award-winning food, spirits, live music and ocean views at the Santa Cruz Yacht Harbor, one of the most spectacular waterfront views in the bay. With these two talented ladies and this gorgeous venue, March 23rd in Santa Cruz promises to be a night to crow about.
