Studio Funny Chairman Joins Comedian Search
HOLLYWOOD, March 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Kent Emmons, The Chairman of National Lampoon Radio Networks, has joined FilmStew.com (http://www.filmstew.com/) and Hollywood Master Storytellers Entertainment as a judge in the search for The World's Greatest Unknown Comedian.
"This is fabulous! Finding new talent has been a big part of my career," says Emmons who began his entertainment career at the age of 18, when he became the manager of his first top-40 act, singer/songwriter Bertie Higgins. Under Kent's management, Higgins had two major international hits, "Key Largo" and "Just Another Day In Paradise," both on the Kat Family/CBS record label.
"Having Kent come aboard to help judge the new comedians is huge for us!" says FilmStew Chairman John Culton. "Kent's connections in the comedy business are endless."
Kent is the co-founder of All Comedy Radio Networks and is currently the CEO of National Lampoon Radio Networks. Kent has been active in the national comedy club scene, producing television and radio programming from such ventures for years. He's an active member of the New York and California Friar's Clubs and the Museum of Television and Radio in Beverly Hills. Kent also serves as an on-air interview host for All Comedy Radio, and includes the contact information of over 800 touring comedians in his Rolodex.
Even with the recent success of All Comedy Networks, Kent says that "the best part about being me is having the most wonderful daughter in the world." Kent's 14-year-old daughter, Ashley, is active in the radio business as a voiceover talent and she frequently consults the network on teen-focused content.
"We're going to harness the power and global reach of the Internet to find the funniest people on the planet," says Culton. "People from all walks of life can send in videotapes and DVDs of themselves performing original stand- up material with dozens of performances to be featured on FilmStew.com and affiliated websites for comedians. Throughout the competition, the public will be able to vote on their favorite comedians at http://www.filmstew.com/."
