Project Healthy Living to be Held March 23 to May 26

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., March 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The 26th annual Project Healthy Living, sponsored by WXYZ-TV/Channel 7, Wallside Windows, Molina Healthcare, and the United Health Organization, a United Way agency, will be held Wednesday, March 23 through Thursday, May 26, at more than 100 sites in the City of Detroit and the counties of Genesee, Livingston, Macomb, Oakland, Sanilac, St. Clair, Washtenaw and Wayne. Project Healthy Living provides free or low-cost health screening tests to individuals 18 and older. Free tests at all sites include blood pressure, height and weight, vision, glaucoma, health hazard appraisal, and counseling and referral.

Tests offered at all sites for a minimal handling fee include blood panel -- 25 tests for diabetes, thyroid, liver, HDL, and bone and kidney disease, among others -- as well as prostate, colorectal and ovarian cancer, and HIV. Special tests offered at selected sites include oral/dental screening, skin cancer, and breast exams. In addition, hs-CRP, a new blood test, is being offered. CRP is a C-reactive protein blood test that can be used to determine the risk of cardiovascular disease, heart attack or stroke.

Once again, Project Healthy Living is targeting young adults ranging from the ages of 18 to 40 years old. Many sites will offer a variety of tests that focus on this age group including: bone density test, body composition, and cardiovascular screening.
