MEDIA ALERT: Musicians, Congressional Leaders and National Organizations Band Together for 'Impaired Driving Prevention - Alive with Commitment'

WHAT: Reception Honoring Impaired Driving Prevention

WHEN: Wednesday, April 6, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

AWAKE Community (Artists Working for Awareness Knowledge and Education) is joining with the congressional members of the Stop DUI Caucus and national organizations working to stop impaired driving for a reception to honor, unify and energize those who work every day to prevent needless roadway deaths. The reception, to take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Capitol Hill, features honorary speeches by congressional leaders, as well as art displays and live performances including music by AWAKE Community founder and nationally known artist Emily Richards. The reception is one of the only events that unites national prevention organizations, governmental agencies, auto and beverage industry leaders, and congressional representatives for the common goal of impaired driving prevention. Background:

Emily Richards, best known as the most downloaded independent musician on the Internet, founded AWAKE Community in honor of her sister, Annie, who was killed by a drunk driver at the young age of 19. Since this loss, Richards has dedicated her music career to the education and reduction of impaired driving. Her background in music, advocacy and business experience has recently led Richards to be named President of the newly formed music company, MP3tunes (www.mp3tunes.com).
