Detroit to be Featured on 'The View' as One of America's Top Up and Coming Cities

DETROIT, March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The city of Detroit will be among five cities showcased Monday, March 7 as one of America's 2005 top up-and-coming cities on the popular ABC television show "The View," the Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau (DMCVB) said today.

Barbara Corcoran -- head of New York City's leading real estate company -- will be a guest on "The View" and discuss Detroit and four other cities for their new development projects and the rising value and demand for real estate in the city. The cities were chosen based on the input of a network of 3,700 real estate brokers. Among the developments in Detroit the segment is expected to highlight are the new Riverfront project, Campus Martius, the downtown stadiums and The Lofts at Merchant's Row.

Barbara Corcoran is president of the Corcoran Group and a best-selling author. According to CNN, Corcoran is "the most sought after broker in New York" and one of the most powerful brokers in the country.

"This is yet another example of the recognition that Detroit is beginning to receive nationwide because of our position as a destination that is undergoing a major revitalization," said Larry Alexander, president and CEO of the DMCVB.

"The View" airs daily at 11 a.m. on WXYZ TV-7 in Detroit. The show is produced by acclaimed ABC journalist Barbara Walters. It features Walters and four other female television personalities discussing hot topics in the news, the best experts in their fields, celebrity interviews and general entertainment. "The View" is among the most watched daytime talk shows and has received 18 Daytime Emmy awards.
