Author Mamas Enters Film Deal for 'The Golden Frog'

ASHEVILLE, N.C., March 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Internationally recognized author Michael Mamas has entered into a development deal with Capistrano Films. Mamas, best recognized for his recent heartfelt novel entitled "The Golden Frog," is working closely with Capistrano executives to create a film that maintains the book's subtle, yet profound message of spiritual discovery. "The Golden Frog" is about a genuine friendship and how the quest for truth transforms that friendship and the individuals involved forever.

Michael Mamas, who spent significant time leading a monastic life in India, is an exceptional motivational speaker. He has written several probing books, including "Angels, Einstein and You." He recently concluded filming a made-for-television special in Los Angeles, about "Love, Longing and Relationships." It captures Michael's unique ability to connect with a live audience.

"The Golden Frog" follows the friendship of two boys through a series of enchanted childhood summers and beyond. Though each pursues his own quest for truth, Bruce and Nathaniel's paths entwine throughout life. Bruce becomes a psychotherapist trapped in a web of conditioning, while Nathaniel ventures to India, and emerges as a revolutionary thinker. During his journey Nathaniel meets Surya, a spiritual master, who teaches him extraordinary lessons and profound knowledge. As Nathaniel awakens to the wisdom rooted deep within him, mysterious events begin to unfold. With gripping passion, he penetrates the veil that cloaks spiritual wisdom. Witnessing Nathaniel's remarkable journey from ordinary to extraordinary, Bruce is changed forever.

Capistrano Films is dedicated to sharing inspirational, uplifting and often spiritual messages through film, documentaries and television. It is in pre-production on a film called "The Fifth Mountain," based on author Paulo Coelho's book about the biblical prophet Elijah. (Coelho is the world-renowned author of "The Alchemist.") Capistrano has produced the likes of "Fate Did Not Let Me Go," a holocaust-era documentary narrated by Liv Ullman and Martin Sheen that is presently running on PBS. It also produced "Syndrome Jerusalem," a docudrama that was the recipient of the First International Peace Award at the 2004 Venice Film Festival.

Capistrano executive, Sergio Pages, says, "Having autobiographical elements attached to the story, 'The Golden Frog' contains creative fictional storytelling in a way that shares a message of true wisdom and inner exploration in a parable-like fashion akin to the manner of Paulo Coelho." Capistrano and Michael Mamas plan to film the feature in and around Columbus, Ohio in the spring of 2006.
