XM Radio Kicks Off New Season of 'Artist Confidential,' Featuring Phil Collins, Lenny Kravitz, Wynton Marsalis, Brian Wilson and More

XM Radio Kicks Off New Season of 'Artist Confidential,' Featuring Phil Collins, Lenny Kravitz, Wynton Marsalis, Brian Wilson and More WASHINGTON, Jan. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- XM Satellite Radio (NASDAQ:XMSR), the nation's leading satellite radio provider with more than 3.2 million subscribers, is rolling out a brand new season of "Artist Confidential," featuring one-on-one conversations and live performances with a diverse array of music legends, only available on XM Satellite Radio. "Artist Confidential" is recorded live in the state-of-the-art XM Performance Theater at the company's Washington, DC headquarters before an intimate audience of the artist's friends, family and fans. The series, hosted by XM's George Taylor Morris, debuted in fall 2004 to critical acclaim, and has featured several significant artists, including Rush, Bonnie Raitt, Don Henley, Bob Weir, Emmylou Harris and Ani DiFranco, among others. For 2005, XM will host an equally impressive roster of artists who have helped define the musical landscape of the 20th and 21st centuries, and are noted for their creative contributions to pop, rock and jazz music circles. During February, in honor of Black History month, XM will present one outstanding African-American artist each week, beginning with four-time GRAMMY(R)-winner Lenny Kravitz on Monday, February 7. On February 14, smooth jazz icon Al Jarreau sets the mood for Valentine's Day with his "Artist Confidential" premiere. Among the accomplishments of his extraordinary career, Jarreau is the only vocalist ever to win GRAMMYs for performances in three different categories -- pop, jazz and R&B. Pre-eminent jazz ambassador Wynton Marsalis, who hosts his own regular XM series "In the Swing Seat," takes the "Artist Confidential" spotlight on February 21. A nine-time GRAMMY-winner, the legendary New Orleans-born trumpeter is Artistic Director of Jazz at Lincoln Center, a celebrated composer, and one of the world's most revered jazz historians. "Artist Confidential" wraps up February on the 28 with Lamont Dozier, one-third of Holland-Dozier Holland, the legendary Motown production and songwriting powerhouse. Dozier contributed to countless hits, including all-time classics for The Supremes and The Four Tops, among many others, and is an acclaimed solo artist as well. On March 7, "Artist Confidential" will feature Oscar(R)-winner and seven- time GRAMMY-winner Phil Collins. The stellar drummer, vocalist and composer first rose to fame with the prog-rock super-group Genesis, and went on to even greater popularity as a solo artist, scoring a long list of number-one hits including "One More Night" and "Against All Odds." Quintessential folk icon Judy Collins visits with "Artist Confidential" on March 21. Collins' heavenly soprano vocals have graced timeless songs including "Someday Soon," "Amazing Grace," and the GRAMMY-winning "Both Sides Now." Oscar and three-time GRAMMY-winner Randy Newman pays a visit to "Artist Confidential" on Monday, April 4. Once of American music's most inventive voices, his wry humor and literate grace shine on classics including "Sail Away," "I Love LA," and the "Toy Story" theme "You've Got A Friend In Me." On April 18, "Artist Confidential" presents Brian Wilson, the creative genius behind the Beach Boys, and an artist who is widely considered the greatest American composer of the rock 'n roll era. During GRAMMY week 2005, Wilson was recently honored as MusicCare's "Person of the Year." In 2004, Wilson's long dormant SMILE album was released to wide critical acclaim. New episodes debut on select Mondays at 6PM/ET, 3PM/PT, with encore performances the following Saturday at 3PM/ET, 12PM/PT and Sunday at 3AM/ET, 12A/PT.
