WEGENER Receives Order From Nielsen Media Research DULUTH, Ga., Jan. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- WEGENER Corporation (NASDAQ:WGNR), a leading provider of television, audio and data distribution networks worldwide, announced receipt of a first quarter fiscal 2005 order from Nielsen Media Research for the development, manufacture, and sale of the new WEGENER NAVE IIC Nielsen Audio Encoder. WEGENER NAVE IIC addresses the industry's need for a new class of NAVE II encoder that operates in the compressed video/audio domain that is rapidly becoming a popular means to more efficiently distribute programming to TV stations. WEGENER NAVE IIC will be the first industry product to encode the Nielsen Media Research proprietary NAVE identification information used for TV ratings purposes into the new distribution compressed program stream without having to first decompress the programming material to baseband audio and video and then recompress them back to their desired compressed format again. "WEGENER has the advanced stream processing technology experience and track record of manufacturing products for major broadcast clients that we need for this mission critical product," stated Robert A. Under the agreement, WEGENER will integrate the proprietary Nielsen audio watermarking technology into the WEGENER NAVE IIC, providing a complete solution to television broadcasters as they transition to digital transmissions.
