Tool Box Solution and Tarantella Offer Operational Risk Management Audit Capabilities With the Launch of TBS Backplane Service Solution

Tool Box Solution and Tarantella Offer Operational Risk Management Audit Capabilities With the Launch of TBS Backplane Service Solution Tool Box Solution Backplane Service adds Session Recording, Cooperation and Management features to Tarantella(R) Secure Global Desktop(R) Enterprise Edition software MUNICH, Germany and SANTA CRUZ, Calif., Jan. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Emphasizing their commitment to deliver technology to assist enterprise customers in managing Operational Risk and Secure Application Access, Tarantella, Inc. and Tool Box Solution today announced TBS Backplane Service for Tarantella Secure Global Desktop Enterprise Edition (EE) software. Designed to assist with compliance issues such as the Basel Accord, the TBS Backplane Service enables organizations to move well beyond traditional Operational Risk audit capabilities by creating archive recordings of end-user application sessions and system administration sessions from Windows, UNIX/Linux, or Mainframe applications -- without a client component or application server modifications. (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20010504/TTLALOGO) Steve Bannerman, Tarantella's Chief Marketing Officer, explains, "Secure Global Desktop Enterprise Edition is rapidly becoming the industry leader in enabling enterprise customers to instantly web-enable legacy applications and provide secure remote access to those applications. Centrally deployed and managed applications are an increasingly powerful audit tool for organizations as they face a mounting list of competitive and regulatory pressures. Tool Box Solution's TBS Backplane Service significantly extends EE's baseline functionality by taking risk management audit functions to the next level. Traditional audit functions provide data such as 'who accessed what application, and when.' The combination of TBS and EE can now provide archives of actual user sessions- i.e. exactly what happened while the application was being used. This is an extremely innovative approach to compliance with government and industry regulations such as GLBA, the Anti- Money Laundering Act, the Patriot Act and Basel 2." The TBS Backplane Service adds the following features to Tarantella Secure Global Desktop Enterprise Edition via a separate, Linux-based component: Recording: Data streams can be captured and saved as Macromedia Flash elements. Applications may be recorded automatically or manually and exported via the TBS management desk. A footnote of the record can be created that contains additional information about users, applications, clients and time. The life of each record can be defined and records are deleted after expiration. Cooperation: TBS extends EE's sophisticated shadowing feature by providing users with access to shared applications and enabling dual control of multiple applications. Management: TBS also extends Secure Global Desktop EE's Object Manager by monitoring the administrator's view of all users, applications and sessions while providing full role-based access to those objects. Time tables for users, applications and servers can also be easily configured. "In today's world of ever-increasing customer and regulatory pressures, IT executives recognize the need for company-wide, transparent, coordinated and audit-proof IT system administration," says Tillmann Basien, Managing Director at Tool Box Solution. "TBS Backplane Service is designed to be a key component of an Enterprise Operational Risk Management Framework. It complements IT security by automatically documenting and verifying system administration. Valuable forensic information can now be delivered in the context of the IT incident response process."
