N2 Broadband Selected as Technology Vendor for Cox's On-Demand Advertising Platform, FreeZone, in Expansion to Nine Markets N2 technology enables seamless, automated transfer of long-form ads to multiple markets ATLANTA, Jan. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- N2 Broadband Inc., the leading provider of scalable, open standard solutions for on-demand entertainment, today announced its collaboration with Cox Communications, the nation's third largest cable provider, on the expansion of Cox's FreeZone on-demand advertising offering. N2 has worked with Cox on this initiative since Cox first introduced the FreeZone service to the San Diego market in 2002. N2 is providing the underlying technology platform and systems integration for FreeZone, which enables Cox to produce and deliver long-form advertisements on a national scale. The platform is based on N2's Xport(TM) Digital Media Producer and its MediaPath(R) Content Delivery System, with an integrated Workflow Management System developed in cooperation with Cauldron Solutions. The entire solution is managed and supported by N2 Broadband's world class network operations center, which will support the Cox corporate facility as well as each division. Through FreeZone, Cox has created its own branded environment in the user interface which will showcase long format advertiser messages to on-demand viewers across Cox's video-on-demand (VOD) markets. "We have been extremely pleased with the results we've seen to-date in the San Diego market, and we are excited about the national launch of FreeZone and long-form advertising," said Guy McCormick, vice president, technical operations, Cox Media. "We partnered with N2 to create a reliable, scalable, end-to-end solution for our clients, and given its success in our initial markets, we are confident that N2's solution will continue to meet our expanding needs." N2 Broadband has deployed technologies in FreeZone that are part of a broader N2 platform called AdPoint(TM), which provides cable operators and programmers with a complete solution for the production, management, distribution and placement of non-linear advertising. AdPoint is compatible will all major VOD streaming servers, and is built upon an open, flexible architecture that supports popular industry interfaces for integration of applications and devices. "The long-form VOD advertising space is becoming an increasingly important part of an operator's overall on-demand offering as it provides an opportunity for advertisers to build a presence in the on-demand world," said Reggie Bradford, President and CEO, N2 Broadband. "Working with Cox, we have developed an integrated, scalable solution that provides a new revenue stream for operators, as well as new ad placement opportunities for advertisers."
