Motor City Music Conference (MC2) Organizers Announce Venues, Panelists, Sponsors Jan. 4, 10 a.m. at Small Plates; Inaugural Event is April 20-24, 2005 What: MC2 will include 400 bands in 40 downtown Detroit venues, a music and lifestyle tradeshow and music industry panels at Detroit's Cobo Conference and Exposition Center April 20-24, 2005. Modeled after successful long-running music conferences SXSW in Austin, Texas and CMJ in New York, MC2 will reflect Detroit's distinctive music history, while spotlighting rock, hip hop, electronic/techno, R&B, urban, soul, blues, country and gospel. Derrick May (Transmat), Greg Baise (Majestic/Magic Stick), Rich Hansen (Lagerhouse), Rico Shelton and Mark Hicks (former D12 management) will participate in artist selection which will encompass 40 percent local and 60 percent national hot, up-and-coming artists. The Detroit Music Awards kicks off MC2 on April 20, 2005 at Detroit's State Theatre.
