Bernard Mould Turns to Kubotek KeyCreator to Manufacture Art Sculptures for CarTunes on Parade KeyCreator Provides Flexibility Required for the Design and Manufacturing of Customized Art Pieces for International Public Art Exhibition DETROIT, Jan. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Kubotek USA today announced its widely used design and manufacturing software, KeyCreator (formerly CADKEY), has been used by Bernard Mould, of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, to design and manufacture the public art sculptures for CarTunes on Parade. Two of the distinctively designed auto-shaped sculptures were previewed at the North American International Auto Show, from January 9 - 23, 2005 at the Cobo Center Concourse in Detroit. CarTunes on Parade is the first international public art exhibit of its kind, celebrating the region's passion and history for cars and music. Approximately 150 car sculptures will be exhibited in Detroit, Michigan and in Windsor, Ontario from June 2005 through September 2005. Bernard Mould, a long-time CADKEY customer and early convert to Kubotek KeyCreator, is a precision mold specialist shop, based in Windsor and has project managed the entire design and manufacturing aspect of this public art endeavour. Unlike other cities' similar programs, CarTunes on Parade allows for easy customization of the sculpture -- creating a challenge in the manufacturing process. "We are very committed to our community and felt CarTunes on Parade provided another great opportunity for us to contribute to the closely knit cultures of both Windsor and Detroit," said Ed Bernard, president, Bernard Mould. "Having used CADKEY and KeyCreator for great number of jobs and projects, we knew KeyCreator would give us both the flexibility and the 3D capabilities required by this project. Since we had the expertise and the right tools, we were confident that we were more qualified than anyone, to handle this job." In addition to creating the mold and manufacturing process for the 300 millimeter artists' concept (maquette) CarTunes, as well as the 2.1 meter full size "blank canvas" CarTunes, Bernard Mould has designed and submitted their own musical interpretation of the generic automotive shape, called Soul Singer, which will be on public display at the North American International Auto Show. Additional CarTune sculptures submitted by more than 150 Windsor and Detroit area artists are now available for sponsorship; contact http://www.cartunesonparade.org/ for more information. CarTunes on Parade merchandise and photos of all CarTunes models submitted for display will be on view at the Auto Show. Official CarTune CoinBank souvenirs will soon be available in transparent Styrolux for only $10 retail. "KeyCreator is used worldwide for many vital projects, including automobile parts, aerospace technology and medical devices," said Bob Bean, COO, Kubotek USA. "However, this is one of the few times that a customer used KeyCreator to help better the community. Beyond that, Bernard Mould's innovative use of KeyCreator for CarTunes on Parade is a perfect example of the future of manufacturing -- being able to easily customize products through the design and manufacturing process." Images of the CarTunes designs in KeyCreator are available. Kubotek KeyCreator builds on the heritage of CADKEY, the first true 3D MCAD software for the desktop. KeyCreator combines both the latest in geometry-based design and modeling technology, and a legacy of success in helping customers in the design of tooling, complex machinery, fixtures, molds, dies in a multitude of product development industries including automotive, aerospace, heavy equipment, sports equipment, medical device, and many more. The KeyCreator creation engineering product line includes multidimensional design and drafting, NC programming and reverse engineering capabilities. The rapidly expanding product line features the company's unique geometry-based foundation with localized feature editing and sophisticated deformation techniques. These capabilities are particularly useful for design teams working with advanced designs of solid models because KeyCreator blends surface, solids and wireframe modeling, allowing easy modification and editing functionality. About CarTunes on Parade CarTunes on Parade is modelled on the success of similar displays in Europe and North America and is designed to add color, whimsy and fun to public spaces; celebrate local artists; provide an educational component; and draw tourists. The sculptures, although begun with an automobile shape, have been artistically interpreted with a musical theme, and will be displayed along the riverfront in Detroit and Windsor as well as in Detroit's cultural center, MidTown, and Foxtown areas. The colorful, creative sculptures measure seven feet long by four feet tall and three and a half feet wide.
