Ann Arbor IT Zone Continues February Programming With Three Hi-Tech Tuesdays ANN ARBOR, Mich., Jan. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The Ann Arbor IT Zone continues its February programming with three Hi-Tech Tuesday programs, "First Place - Tips for Search Engine Placement," "K-12 Education - Our Children's Future is in Hand," and "Information Overload: Keeping Up to Stay Ahead." Hi-Tech Tuesday programs open at 5 p.m. with networking and presentations from 5:30 p.m. through 7 p.m. Free to members of the Ann Arbor IT Zone, Hi- Tech Tuesdays cost $25 for non-members and $5 for students. All Hi-Tech Tuesday programs are located at the Ann Arbor IT Zone, 330 East Liberty Street in downtown Ann Arbor. The February 2005 Hi-Tech Tuesday programs are: Feb. 8 -- "First Place - Tips for Search Engine Placement." Search engine pros Andy King, founder of Web Site Optimization and author of Speed Up Your Site: Web Site Optimization; and Linda Girard, principal, Brightweb; will discuss how not to be lost in the Internet jungle where customers can't find you. They will share how to implement sound search engine optimization including key word research and free and paid tools to assist with the process. Attendees will learn to optimize content strategies, incorporate search engine optimization strategy with their site marketing strategy and enjoy better results from their web investments. Feb. 15 -- "K-12 Education - Our Children's Future is in Hand." Presenter Elliot Soloway, CEO of GoKnow and professor, department of EECS, University of Michigan, has been leading the development of teaching and learning tools using computer technologies. Taking advantage of mobile, wireless, and handheld technologies, Soloway and his team have developed learning programs that motivate and excite young students -- for less than the cost of running shoes. Attendees will learn how a handheld computer, equipped with Soloway's educational software, can do 80 percent of what a laptop can do at less than 20 percent of the cost. They will also discover why Tony Fadell, vice president of engineering for Apple's iPod division, credits Soloway with infecting him with passion and enthusiasm while attending the Univ. of Michigan. Feb. 22 -- "Information Overload: Keeping Up to Stay Ahead." Presenters Greg Poirier, director of development research at Thomson/Creative Solutions; Alex Lowe, developer evangelist at Microsoft Corporation; Todd Bohlen, chief software engineer at Domino's Pizza; and moderator Josh Holmes, independent software consultant; will share that the greatest challenge facing technology professionals is how to keep up with industry developments. Attendees will learn the effective strategies used by the expert panelists to stay on the cutting edge. They will discuss how a systematic approach to sorting, managing, interpreting and acting on information is essential for continued success.
