'A little more action': Elvis tribute artist takes control of health to fulfill dream

MEMPHIS, Tenn., Aug. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Royal Philips (NYSE:PHG, AEX: PHIA) today (August 12, 2016) unveiled 'A little more action' at Elvis Week in Memphis, Tennessee. 'A little more action' tells the transformative story of Keith Hart, an amateur Elvis Tribute Artist who made a series of small lifestyle changes to fulfill his lifelong dream of performing for the first time on stage as his hero Elvis Presley(TM).

Keith's journey shows him transforming from a sedentary software tester to a tribute artist with the moves and confidence of the King of Rock & Roll(TM). When the project ('A little more action') started, Keith had concerns about his health, and his confidence suffered due to weight gain, work stress and age. He didn't believe he would ever sing in public, let alone perform in Memphis. After six weeks of monitoring his health and making small changes to his daily habits, his stamina and confidence grew. Add to this the support he received from mentor Dean Z, a professional Elvis tribute artist, on stage presence and performance and he finally made it on stage --in Elvis' hometown of Memphis, Tennessee.

"To begin with I was somewhat overwhelmed, but I took it one step at a time, and my confidence grew as my activity levels increased," said Keith Hart on his transformative journey. "Initially I wasn't happy with where I was with my body. My grandfather had a heart attack and I really didn't want to go down that road. I knew I had to make a change."

By making small changes to his lifestyle, Keith:

-- Increased his activity by 9% in six weeks to meet the Center of Disease
Control (CDC) activity minute targets
-- Decreased resting heart rate from 66 to 60 beats per minute
-- Blood pressure in the recommended range
-- Lost 7 pounds
Keith was equipped with the Philips personal health programs, which are designed to help consumers take control of their health and lifestyle choices. Keith started by wearing the Philips health watch to monitor his activity, heart rate and sleep. He set up a goal to increase activity and the Philips HealthSuite health app tracked his progress by analyzing data from the health watch. The app showed his progress in real-time and helped him stay on track with messages personalized to his objective. Keith also used an upper arm and wrist blood pressure monitor and body analysis scale, this ecosystem of connected devices are an integral part of the Philips personal health programs, and helped Keith monitor the changes in his blood pressure and weight throughout the 6 weeks.

"Singing and moving isn't easy, but by making small changes to my lifestyle and monitoring my activity my stamina grew, which really helped with my stage presence," Keith said. This has been a truly amazing experience. I have fulfilled a lifelong dream and I feel better, more healthy and agile."
