Winner Gets Rare Opportunity to Perform in Front of Hundreds of Participants and Even More Attendees including Nashville Dignitaries at Shoney's Annual Event Benefiting the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department

Nashville-based Shoney's, America's iconic restaurant brand, is about to give one of those bands just the break they are looking for. And it's a big one.

Shoney's, which hosts the city's premier annual family event via its Shoney's 5K Family Fun Run, Walk & Festival, is setting the stage for the day's entertainment, where the winner of the inaugural 5K Band Selection Contest will have the honor of showcasing its talent in front of hundreds of participants and even more attendees, including Nashville dignitaries. In addition to the great exposure, the winning band will receive a $500 Shoney's Gift Card for their performance.

This year's 5K Fun Run will take place at Nissan Stadium (Lot T, adjacent to the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge) on Saturday, May 7 at 9 am and for the 8(th) consecutive year, all proceeds from the event benefit the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. The event will feature a FREE festival with something for the entire family after the race including watching the contest's winning band.

"This year, at our biggest community event of the year, we decided to get the community involved in a fun way. Therefore, we are sponsoring a contest where one winning band will get the opportunity of a lifetime on Shoney's main stage."

Prospective bands and even their fans are encouraged to nominate themselves or their favorite on Shoney's Facebook page through Sunday, April 10. On Monday, April 11, Shoney's will announce the finalists and another week of fan voting will determine the winner based on total social votes (likes, comments and shares for each entrant). The winner will be announced on April 22. Shoney's reserves the right to choose the winner of the 5K Band Selection Contest. Although the entertainment and festival are free, the entry fee for the Fun Run is $30 April 1 - May 6 and $35 on the day of the event. Teams of 3 or more are $20 per person. The entry fee for Shoney's employees is $10, $25 for police cadets and $5 for students ages 11-18. Kids 10 & under are free. Registration is available via Shoney's web site.

As he has in the past, Mr. Davoudpour will donate 100% of net proceeds to benefit the Metropolitan Nashville Police Support Fund, a component of the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. The foundation was established primarily to help defray costs for officers working to complete higher education degrees. Through the generosity of Mr. Davoudpour, nearly $150,000 has been raised for the fund since the 5K Family Fun Run, Walk & Festival began in 2009. Dozens of officers have received higher education grants from the fund over the past two years.
