Songdew Facilitates Independent Artists in Creating New Revenue Streams

NEW DELHI, March 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --

Songdew [https://www.facebook.com/songdewnetwork/?fref=ts ], a leading music network
takes a significant step in creating new revenue streams for independent artists. India is
becoming a cauldron of independent artists - large number of bands and individual artists
are emerging from every part of the country, creating different genres of music and
experiments with sounds. However, over the past few years, the industry has seen a sharp
decline in sale of music globally and some of the prominent sources of revenue for
independent artists have mostly been live performances at music concerts, clubs, lounges,
food festivals and more. Although, few artists in metros get opportunities to create
sounds/music for corporate houses and also get handsomely paid for the same, these numbers
are very limited. Still there are grey areas that reveal the fight for majority of the
musicians.

Songdew, in its quest to provide more opportunities to independent artists, has taken
up an endeavour to work with various brands and tap the large talent pool spread over the
country through its online music portal, creating an additional source of income for the
artists. The company has tied up with brands like Godrej and Fabindia as an initiative to
promote the same.

Explaining the phenomena, Mr. Sunil Khanna, Founder of Songdew, talks about the recent
project 'Weave Your Sound with Fabindia', "This project was about creating music on
contemporary lines that clearly portrays the brand image of Fabindia through the
platforms' unique opportunity module. Large number of musicians were invited to
participate and create the music, keeping in mind the brand essence of Fabindia. We got a
phenomenal response for this campaign. Hundreds of artists created excellent music and it
was really difficult for us to choose the limited number of tracks. We have also released
the collection of the same music under the title 'Heritage Hues - Celebrating the Music of
India' recently, and it can be purchased from various stores like iTunes, Amazon and
more."

Looking at brands' perspective, in a very short-span of time, Fabindia got the
required number of tracks from the talented musicians. On the other hand, from the
musicians' point, even the artists out of metro cities got a chance to showcase their
skill by simply uploading the song on Songdew and earn significant money at the same time.

"This type of activity by Songdew is very encouraging for us. It's exciting to see how
the music of artists from small parts of India is able to reach the brands in metro cities,
where everything once was mainstream Bollywood only," says Jim Ankan Deka, fellow winner
of the Fabindia competition.
