New Welsh Music Venue Gets Set to Put Newport Back on the Map

NEWPORT, Wales, March 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --



For too long now Newport has had the stigma associated with a rough night out but now
an old iconic venue in the heart of the city has been restored and is setting about
restoring Newport's past heritage with music and the arts.



The former Old Odeon cinema has been transformed into a state of the art multipurpose
venue that now is set to attract acts back to the port who until now have shunned the city
in favour of smaller and less suitable venues in Cardiff and Bristol.



Newport has a history of playing host to major bands and musicians such as the
Stereophonics, the GLC, Elton John and many more, with host venues like the late TJ's on
Clarence Place but currently many agents fear the city's past bad press and now the owners
of The Neon want this to change by getting the people of Newport and the surrounding areas
to support the port by getting behind The Neon in calling for the big and the small acts
to come on down to Newport.



The Neon which stands for Newport Entertains Our Nation has recently had Rough Copy
and the sensational Incognito grace its stage within its opening weeks with Kiss
FM's Billy The Kid set to play this bank holiday Sunday with a host of other local DJ's
and Mason Noise live on the 2nd April.



The Neon is the culmination of over 10 years hard work for her new local owners who
have spent a considerable amount of money without the support of any grants or funding and
now by people coming out to support the project the city as a by-product can help remove
the shroud it has been left with.
