World Premiere of An Innovative New Musical Form "One Night Only: The Greatest Musical Never Written"

TORONTO, Dec. 7, 2015 /CNW/ - Alan Kliffer is unveiling an innovative new show combining musical theatre and improvisational comedy. Kliffer and Executive Producer Katherine Rawlinson (Rebel Developments Inc.) have yielded a refreshed theatre experience for Toronto audiences with the premiere of One Night Only: The Greatest Musical Never Written, January 27 - February 14, 2016, at the Factory Theatre Mainspace, 125 Bathurst Street, Toronto, Ontario.

"We are creating an entertaining two-act, fully-improvised musical that challenges assumptions about improv and theatre," says Kliffer, "From spontaneous audience suggestions, a complete two-act musical unfolds with an extraordinary and imaginative cast. Highly-skilled musicians and technicians compose music, lighting and sound design to augment the narrative. The moldable set design by Brandon Kleiman transports the audience to different locations at the blink of an eye, and is completely controlled by our cast who utilize the set to tell the story. The result is an artful new theatrical hybrid."

Also joining Artistic Director/Creator Kliffer are creative team members Director Melody Johnson, Musical Director Jordan Armstrong, Lighting Designer Josh Hoodless and Sound Designer Jason Cabanaw. Cast members are Ron Pederson, Ashley Botting, Carly Heffernan, Reid Janisse, Alex Tindal and Jan Caruana. Orchestra members are Ewan Divitt, Jake Koffman, Dave Stein and Justin Han with back-up singers Miriam Drysdale and Kevin Vidal.

By the end of the run, the cast and crew of One Night Only will have created 18 unique full-length musicals, with completely-improvised original music, songs, characters, choreography and plot. Providing a revitalized theatre experience for patrons extends to the venue itself, including the ability to take beverages into the theatre, and to purchase One Night Only Art On-the-Spot improvised merchandise: T-shirts, tote bags and lapel buttons designed each night by visual artists.

One Night Only: The Greatest Musical Never Written previews on Wednesday, January 27, officially opens on Thursday, January 28 and closes on February 14. Shows are two hours with a 15-minute intermission and are presented Tuesday to Saturday, 8 p.m., with Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $45 - $55 + HST (Regular, Balcony - Orchestra) and $30 + HST (Senior and Student) via the Factory Theatre Box Office and TO T.I.X. Visit www.onenightonlymusical.com. Follow on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter (@onomusical).
