One of rock music's most distinctive and innovative bands, The Killers will return to its hometown April 6, 2016 for the grand opening of the city's newest sports and entertainment venue. The concert will serve as a tribute to Las Vegas' unique history of timeless talent, as it will also include special guests "Mr. Las Vegas" Wayne Newton and newcomer and North Las Vegas local Shamir.

"It's only fitting that we open the new Las Vegas Arena with the biggest and most successful performers to come out of Las Vegas," said Bobby Reynolds, Vice President of Booking for AEG Live. "We couldn't be more excited to welcome The Killers home at this incredible new venue and back to their adoring Las Vegas fans."

On the occasion of playing the first show at Las Vegas Arena, The Killers sent a note saying:
"Notorious libertines of the unofficial Republic of Vegas, rejoice! We are very pleased to be able to pay our gambling debts by playing a show, uhhum, the first show, at Las Vegas Arena! Plus, we're bringing some Las Vegas newcomers to help us as well: Wayne Newton and Shamir! Please join us for fun and be sure to bring a positive mental attitude, and the deed to your house if need be. Tickets available at all the regular outlets. Otherwise, see our bass player Mark for guest list.
Peace and love,
Los Killers"

Rick Arpin, representative for Las Vegas Arena, said, "The opening act for the Las Vegas Arena has been subject to lots of speculation, but in our mind it always made sense to celebrate Las Vegas and its homegrown talent. We want Las Vegas to know this is 'your house' and we look forward to making The Killers feel right at home."

The Killers are a Las Vegas-based four-piece band who formed in 2003, featuring the talents of singer/keyboardist Brandon Flowers, drummer Ronnie Vanucci, guitarist Dave Keuning and bassist Mark Stoermer. The band has received countless accolades for their artistic achievement, including multiple GRAMMY nominations, American Music Award nominations, MTV Video Music Awards, NME Awards and more. Their first album, Hot Fuss, was released in 2004 to worldwide acclaim. The album contained the singles "Mr. Brightside" and "Somebody Told Me" in addition to the anthemic song "All These Things That I've Done." Their next album, Sam's Town, was released in 2006 and spent 42 weeks on the Billboard Top 200. The Killers have appeared three times on Saturday Night Live, in addition to performances on The Tonight Show, The Late Show with David Letterman and more. Their third studio album, Day & Age, was released to widespread critical praise in 2008. The Killers released their most recent album, Battle Born, in September 2012. After a decade of making music, in November 2013, The Killers released a "Best Of" collection, Directs Hits, which featured two incredible new songs alongside classics from the band's revered catalogue.

Known worldwide as "Mr. Las Vegas," entertainer Wayne Newton is known for his signature song "Danke Schoen," plus many hit singles including "Daddy Don't You Walk So Fast," "Red Roses For a Blue Lady" and "Years." In a business that can often be volatile and success sometimes short-lived, Newton has performed live to more than 40 million people and has worked as an entertainer for over 50 years.

Shamir is Shamir Bailey, a 20-year-old Las Vegas native whose verve for life makes him almost impossible to categorize. As a young musician, he draws influence from soul, R&B, house, disco, rap and pop - in the tradition of artists like Prince, Grace Jones, David Bowie and Madonna. His debut EP "Northtown" was released in 2014, and his first LP, Ratchet, was released in May 2015.
