One-of-a-Kind, 18 Karat Gold Collector's Item Featuring 18 Carats of Diamonds Will Be Auctioned Off to Benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital® on Behalf of Star Wars: Force For Change

AKRON, Ohio, Dec. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of the "Force 4 Fashion" event on December 2(nd), Kay® Jewelers will be unveiling a custom-designed gold and diamond BB-8 collectable, paying homage to the newest droid in the upcoming film Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The new fashion-meets-fundraising initiative brings together an illustrious group of designers to create looks inspired by characters from the new movie to be auctioned for charity.

Standing at 4.25" high and weighing more than 1.5lbs, the custom BB-8 collectable is set in 18 karat yellow gold and features an incredible total diamond weight of 18 carats. The BB-8 will be on display at the Star Wars "Force 4 Fashion" event - presented by Kay Jewelers - in NYC this week, along with looks from other designers taking part in the project, including: Billy Reid, Cynthia Rowley, Diane von Furstenberg, Giles Deacon, Halston, Opening Ceremony, Ovadia & Sons, Parker, Rag & Bone, Timo Weiland and Todd Snyder.

Following its presentation at the event, the custom BB-8 collectable - which includes more than 860 diamonds - will be available for auction with the proceeds benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital® on behalf of Star Wars: Force For Change, a charitable initiative that empowers people to make a positive impact on the world around them. More details regarding the online auction through St. Jude will be available soon.
