Large Viewing Screens for Remembrance Day Ceremony

Large Viewing Screens for Remembrance Day Ceremony

OTTAWA, Nov. 9, 2015 /CNW/ - People attending the National Remembrance Day Ceremony at the National War Memorial in Ottawa this year will, once again, get a better view of what's happening. Three giant TV screens will be erected at the site to help people see the event at the Memorial - thanks to Veterans Affairs Canada.

"Crowds at the site of the ceremony, hosted by The Royal Canadian Legion on behalf of the people of Canada, have had problems seeing the actual ceremony in recent years due to the growth in the amount of people attending," says Dominion President of The Royal Canadian Legion, Tom Eagles. "The provision of these giant screens is very much appreciated," adds Eagles.

Government departments and agencies involved in helping the Legion host this Ceremony agreed and have taken on the responsibility of making sure the attendees can see the Legion's Virtual Wall of Honour and Remembrance followed by the Remembrance Day Ceremony.

Since 2004, the addition of these large screens has been a bonus for those who take the time to come and remember," says Legion Dominion President Tom Eagles, who will place a wreath at this year's ceremony on behalf of Canada's largest Veteran's organization. "I am very pleased that these stakeholders have stepped in once again and provided what has become a major requirement," adds Eagles.

The screens to be erected are similar to those put in place on Parliament Hill for the Canada Day Celebrations and will be placed in locations to give the most people possible the best view.
