Tenor Anthony Kearns to Sing the National Anthem prior to Mets/Red Sox Game at Citi Field on Fri., August 28, 2015

FLUSHING, N.Y., Aug. 27, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Renowned tenor Anthony Kearns will sing the National Anthem ("The Star-Spangled Banner") at Citi Field this Fri., Aug. 28, 2015 before the New York Mets host the Boston Red Sox. Kearns will sing before the start of the game just before 7 p.m.

Mr. Kearns, himself a sports fan, said he is excited to perform at Citi Field for a game that is sure to draw a lively crowd.

Kearns is beloved by fans in New York and Boston, having performed at prominent venues such as Madison Square Garden, Carnegie Hall, and Boston's Tanglewood, home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Last year Kearns headlined the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in New York City as the guest of former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who hosted the event as chairman.

Kearns has experience singing the National Anthem at large sporting events. He won the hearts of many American football fans when he sang during the "Notre Dame: A Welcome Home Celebration" vs. Navy Football game in Dublin, Ireland. He also sang during the Military Tribute at the 137(th) Preakness Stakes, where trainer Doug O'Neill's horse, I'll Have Another, won the second leg of the Triple Crown. Kearns last performed "The National Anthem" at a sporting event as the guest of The Washington Redskins on October 7, 2012 when they played against the Atlanta Falcons at FedExField in Landover, MD.

Kearns performed "God Bless America" during the Seventh Inning Stretch at a Boston Red Sox game on July 25, 2004, when they played against the New York Yankees, and more recently, for the L.A. Angels v. the Colorado Rockies in 2011.

Kearns is a member of the Irish Tenors, with whom he has 10 CDs. He has a thriving international solo career--which encompasses opera, guest appearances with some of the world's most prestigious symphony orchestras, television appearances, and frequent charity concerts.
