WASHINGTON, Aug. 4, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI), the nation's leading Hispanic leadership development and educational services organization, today announced that Grammy-Award winning Latin rock band La Santa Cecilia will perform during the entertainment finale at its 38(th) Annual Awards Gala on Thursday, October 8, 2015, in Washington, D.C.

La Santa Cecilia exemplifies the modern day creative hybrid of Latin culture, rock and world music. The band traverses a musical landscape as diverse as its home base of Los Angeles, churning together cumbia, tango, rock, rumba, jazz and even klezmer into its own brand of joyfully explosive international pop. Featuring accordion, guitar and percussion behind the vocals of the soulful and charismatic Marisol Hernández, La Santa Cecilia is an emerging musical face of young Latinos.

The band's album Treinta Días won for Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album at the 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards in 2014.

"CHCI is thrilled to have La Santa Cecilia perform as part our 2015 Hispanic Heritage Month events," said Esther Aguilera, CHCI President & CEO. "As we celebrate the many aspects of Latino culture and leadership, La Santa Cecilia is the perfect fit to tie it all together for our gala entertainment finale."

CHCI's 38th Annual Hispanic Heritage Month (HHM) celebration takes place in Washington, D.C. on October 6-8, 2015, with the theme Powering Growth and Influence. CHCI hosts the nation's premier events commemorating HHM, which draw more than 3,000 Latino leaders from across the country, and 12,000 live stream viewers from across the globe, to its Public Policy Conference, Reyes of Comedy, and Annual Awards Gala in Washington, D.C.

Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated annually from September 15 - October 15. For CHCI, it also represents an opportunity to feature its highly competitive and nationally acclaimed Latino youth leadership development programs, including two fellowship programs, a congressional internship program, scholarship awards, and college readiness programs, Ready to Lead (R2L®) and R2L® NextGen, for high school students.
