The Frankenmuth Bavarian Inn Lodge was built in 1986, with 100 rooms, and has expanded significantly since that time to more than 360 rooms. The associated Bavarian Inn Restaurant has recently celebrated its 125 anniversary, originally founded as the Union House in 1888 and acquired by the Zehnder family in 1950.

The lodge is considered the primary top-tier tourist destination in Michigan, and boasts more than 13 acres of prime riverfront views and 100 shops and boutiques. The restaurant is known for its authentic German dishes and the largest selection of German beers in the state. The site hosts dozens of popular festivals and events each year.
