One of New York's Finest Lands Leading Role in Upcoming Romantic Comedy

Steven Stanulis, former NYPD police officer and celebrity security handler turned actor and movie producer, stars in the film "The Networker" which is slated to be released in the summer of 2015.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y., Oct. 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- It is well known that embarking on a career change is not easy; but don't tell that to Steven Stanulis, retired NYPD cop and A-list celebrity security handler. He's made the change almost effortlessly. After making a career transition from cop to actor in 2003 and subsequently assuming roles in over 30 films, big and small, he is now the star and producer of the upcoming romantic comedy, "The Networker." Scheduled to be released in the summer of 2015, The upbeat film, directed by award-winning director John A. Gallagher, also features the talents of Hollywood notables Stephen Baldwin, Sean Young, William Forsythe, and Alysia Reiner. Appealing to a wide audience, the film's themes of love, family and personal growth will strike a chord with many Americans.

Stanulis plays John Mangano, a 40-year-old man who is told by his father that he has to come up with a plan to save the family printing business or he will be out of a job. Desperate to find a solution, Mangano delves into the world of networking, of which he knows very little about. Through all of his crazy encounters and humorous mishaps, he ultimately finds responsibility and an added bonus: love.

To add to Mr. Stanulis's credits he is also an author, and his book, "Sex and the Shield" will be on book shelves nationally soon. Steve will also be starring in a one man play "Sex And The Shield" on Broadway in theatres row. Negotiations are now in progress.

After retiring from the NYPD due to an injury on the job, Stanulis became a celebrity security consultant. "Acting was always a passion, but it was always something I did on the side," said Stanulis. But as luck (or fate) would have it, he happened to meet Leonardo DiCaprio who Stanulis credits as the one who helped him get into the industry.

"'The Networker' brings my craft to the next level," said Stanulis. "It is a romantic comedy that can reach a broader audience and one that I can actually watch with my children." In addition, he finds satisfaction in knowing that he can also pay homage to his home borough of Staten Island through his work.
