In this position, Halper will look for distribution and co-production opportunities for WNET's current programming and find ways to distribute the public media provider's rich and deep catalogue of archival programming. Halper brings an extensive background in public television to WNET. Most recently, he served as Senior Director, News and Public Affairs for PBS where he was responsible for overseeing and coordinating news and public affairs content as well as developing and supervising the production of specials and limited series. Halper was also instrumental in the creation of PBS NewsHour Weekend.

Halper's appointment also marks his return to WNET, where he was Director of Production. In this position he helped manage the development and production of programming for the PBS national schedule. Previously he was Senior Producer for THIRTEEN's news and current affairs programs, including the award-winning PBS international documentary series Wide Angle. He will report to Stephen Segaller, Vice President, Programming and Bob Feinberg, Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary.

"During Andy's time working at WNET, especially as Senior Producer for our acclaimed series Wide Angle, he developed a powerful understanding of the international marketplace, which I know will be a considerable asset to us," said Stephen Segaller.

"Andy has the kind of experience WNET needs to help us take advantage of distribution opportunities for our current and legacy programs," said Bob Feinberg. "I'm looking forward to his positive contribution to the company."

Halper has received numerous honors including a News and Documentary Emmy, an Overseas Press Club Award, the Edward R. Murrow award for Best News Documentary, two Silver Hugos from the Chicago International Television Festival, the American Bar Association's Certificate of Merit Award for Television, two New York Emmys and several Cine Golden Eagle Awards.

Halper holds a Juris Doctor degree from Northeastern University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
