AdMeTech Foundation of Boston established the Manogram(®) Project for the advancement and implementation of diagnostic tools for early detection and treatment akin to life-saving mammograms.
"While I've won many marathons, my greatest victory was beating prostate cancer. Prostate cancer kills a man every 18 minutes and is more common than even breast cancer," Rodgers says in the public service announcement. "Yet, men don't have accurate imaging tests like mammograms. Join me in supporting the Manogram(®)Project. Help us bring life-saving detection to men."
According to AdMeTech Foundation, prostate cancer is the most common major malignancy in Massachusetts and the nation, and strikes one in seven men. Although prostate cancer is curable when detected early, over 600 Massachusetts men and over 29,000 American men will die of this disease in 2014 alone. In addition, due to insufficient diagnostic information, a staggering number of men will have unnecessary procedures, which cause complications and inflate health care costs. For every life lost, at least three men will have unnecessary treatment and over 30 men will have unnecessary biopsies.
In support of the Manogram® Project for early detection of prostate cancer, AdMeTech Foundation will integrate the awareness campaign with a fundraising drive, and Hitachi Aloka Medical America, Inc. will match the first donated $25,000. The Manogram® Project will also conduct a charitable contest for a football signed by the New England's favorite quarterback. The football was donated by New England Patriots' Charitable Foundation.
