Older Adults Weigh In on Popular National Television Commercials
GlynnDevins Finds Seniors Track With General Population
OVERLAND PARK, Kan., Aug. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --The new football season is here, but it really wasn't that long ago when advertisers showcased their television commercials during the big championship game at the beginning of February. Those spots garner a great deal of publicity among the general public.
GlynnDevins surveyed more than 200 older adults age 70+ to find out their reaction to the commercials and if they resonated with the senior audience.
"We initially learned from the survey that a majority of older adults believe they're often portrayed as stereotypes," said Jeremy Johnson, GlynnDevins vice president of creative. "Yet, when it came to commercials that appeal to the masses, the older audience fell right in line with the general public in terms of their likes."
Statistics from the survey conducted by GlynnDevins can be found on the Overland Park-based marketing communications agency's blog, Insights. The final, in a series of blog posts, features results from What Advertising Do Older Adults Like Best?
"As an agency we are constantly creating advertising that hits home with the senior audience," added Johnson. "Certainly going straight to the source is vital in obtaining feedback about creating ads and messages to the growing older demographic."
