Platts Energy Week TV to Begin Airing Sundays in Oil-Rich Oklahoma
State's Top Energy Official Will Discuss Outlook for Shale Drilling, Wind Energy
Also Sunday: Infrastructure Considerations for U.S. Natural Gas Industry
WASHINGTON, July 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Platts, a leading global provider of energy, petrochemicals, metals and agriculture information, announces its Platts Energy Week TV program will begin airing in one of the top energy-producing states in the U.S. Sunday with its debut on Oklahoma's statewide public broadcasting service (PBS) network.
OETA The Oklahoma Network will become the 17(th) PBS market to carry Platts Energy Week, joining TV stations in other key energy-producing states including Alaska, California, Montana, South Dakota and Texas. The all-energy news and analysis program will air Sundays at 8 p.m. Central Time on OETA OKLA. (At this link find the full listing of participating PBS stations.)
Platts Energy Week, an independent, objective voice on energy issues, aims to complement the educational programming of OETA and its sister PBS channels by providing must-watch programing for households, businesses and local and state governments.
By way of introduction to the new audience, Platts Energy Week Host Bill Loveless will interview Oklahoma Secretary of Energy and Environment Michael Teague on the outlook for the state's oil, natural gas and renewable energy development. Discussion will include ongoing concerns of seismic activity and the increased drilling of shale oil and natural gas wells. The state's increased number of earthquakes is being linked to drillers' practice of injecting into the ground wastewater from hydraulically fractured, or fracked, wells.
"We're pleased to mark the show's debut in this important energy hub with insights on a hot-button industry issue - fracking - from Oklahoma's top energy official," said Bill Loveless, veteran energy journalist. "Our discussion of shale oil and gas production and renewables reflects what's currently fueling the energy dialogue not only locally but nationally."
U.S. Energy Infrastructure Series Continues Sunday with Natural Gas Outlook
Sunday's show will also feature a look at the infrastructure considerations for natural gas. The segment is the third installment of the biweekly series "Energy Infrastructure: Reconnecting America," which explores the outlook for U.S. energy delivery systems by commodity and concludes with a look at coal on July 27. Previous segments examined the effects of abundant North American energy supplies on U.S. oil infrastructure on June 15 and the reach of the U.S. electric power grid on June 29.
