Jeff Bridges Named 2014 Will Rogers Institute's Summer Theatrical PSA Spokesperson

BURBANK, Calif., July 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Will Rogers Institute (WRI) is proud to announce Jeff Bridges, star of upcoming science fiction film, The Giver, as its 2014 Summer Theatrical Fundraising Spokesperson. The fundraising campaign, happening in movie theaters across the United States, is a time-honored tradition that began in 1936 and featured James Cagney, Humphrey Bogart and Bette Davis in the first public service announcement.

We are happy to announce that several theater chains have already started participating in the 2014 campaign. Regal Entertainment Group is hosting Summer Movie Express that offers $1 family films at select locations with proceeds benefiting WRI. For tickets and show times, visit www.regmovies.com/Movies/Summer-Movie-Express.

AMC Theatres is supporting the campaign with their Shows for Support program. The program offers $3 tickets to see Hollywood's biggest movies back on the big screen. One hundred percent of the proceeds go to charity, including WRI. For tickets and show times, visit www.amctheatres.com/programs/shows-for-support.

iPic Theaters is reaching out to their members and loyal customers through their alliance with MicroGiving.com. Help reach their goal of raising $10,000 for WRI by making a donation at www.microgiving.com/cause/will-rogers-institute.

Bow Tie Cinemas is offering a special combo at their concession stands. Patrons will receive free Twizzlers with the purchase of a large popcorn and large soft drink, and $1 from every sale is donated to the Will Rogers Institute Neonatal Program.

Other theater chains joining the summer tradition are Brenden Theatres, Carmike Cinemas, Cinemark USA, Goodrich Quality Theaters, Malco Theatres, National Amusements, and United Drive-In Theatre Owners Association, to name a few.

The money raised from the 2014 Summer Fundraiser will benefit the Will Rogers Neonatal Infant Program. The program is dedicated to providing lifesaving equipment to hospitals nationwide, so little lives have a fighting chance to survive. For more information about the program, or to find out how your theater can participate, visit www.wrinstitute.org or call toll-free (888) 994-3863.

About The Will Rogers Institute
The Will Rogers Institute is a program of the Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation, a charity, named after one of the greatest humanitarians, philanthropists and entertainers that ever lived, Will Rogers. Originally a hospital for tuberculosis-stricken vaudevillians, The Will Rogers Memorial Hospital became a national training facility for doctors treating patients with tuberculosis and the Will Rogers Institute was created. Currently, the WRI perpetuates the legacy of Will Rogers as a national charitable health program dedicated to the support of research in debilitating lung disorders, medical school training fellowships, and recently becoming a national leader in providing life-saving neonatal ventilator equipment to hospitals throughout the United States.
