ALCS Appoints Stevie Spring to Board of Directors

LONDON, July 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --

The Authors' Licensing and Collecting Society (ALCS) is delighted to announce the
appointment of Stevie Spring as a Non-Executive Director for a three-year term to the ALCS
Board of Directors

Currently a portfolio director, investor and advisor, Stevie brings with her extensive
and varied experience of media, publishing and corporate governance to her role on the
ALCS Board.

Stevie graduated in law and spent four years working in marketing prior to launching
TV-AM breakfast television in the UK. She followed this up with a 16 year career in
international communication agency management before taking over as the UK Chief Executive
of Clear Channel, the world's largest out-of-home media and live entertainment. Stevie
later joined specialist publisher Future PLC where she became one of the few women to run
a fully listed public company and led the company's digital transformation.

Stevie is currently starting her third term as Chair of BBC Children in Need and has
previously chaired the Groundwork Foundation. She has served as Deputy Chair on the Board
of the Professional Publishers Association (PPA) and lobbied for and spoken widely on the
issues facing copyright protection.

Of her appointment to the ALCS Board, Stevie said:

"I'm delighted to be joining ALCS at such a pivotal point in its development and look
forward to working with Adam and the Board on the next phase of its growth strategy."

Chair of ALCS, Adam Singer commented:

"Stevie makes the prosaic of business skills, acumen, and corporate experience
sparkle; with an ability to make the difficult issues of board life approachable, combined
with a rare levity that encourages reflective debate. Her skills will help ALCS in its
mission of making life better for writers."

About ALCS

The Authors' Licensing & Collecting Society (ALCS) is a 'collecting society' and
membership organisation set up by writers, for writers. It collects fees on behalf of the
whole spectrum of UK writers and all writers are eligible to join. ALCS collects fees that
are difficult, time-consuming or legally impossible for writers and their representatives
to claim on an individual basis: money that is nonetheless due to them.

ALCS also campaigns on behalf of writers at a national and an international level.
Through its advocacy work, ALCS aims to ensure that writers receive fair payment for the
use of their work and that writers' rights are recognised and respected.
