Now Showing in Amarillo: the Texas Film Round-Up with the Texas Archive of the Moving Image

AUSTIN, Texas, June 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Texas Archive of the Moving Image (TAMI) is excited to bring the award-winning Texas Film Round-Up to Amarillo! We will accept Texas-related films and videos for FREE digitization at the Downtown Amarillo Public Library at 413 E 4(th) St. We urge potential donors to dig their family films and videos out of their attics, sheds, or garages and bring them to the Texas Film Round-Up. To qualify for free digitization, participants must be willing to donate a digital copy of their materials to TAMI's archive, a digital collection at texasarchive.org. We also collect copies of already digitized Texas-related films.

We will be on the 2(nd) floor of the Downtown Library on 6/19, 10 am - 7 pm; and 6/20-6/21, 10 am - 5 pm. Stop by to check out our exhibit on Panhandle film history and film preservation, and you can also watch archival footage of Amarillo and the Panhandle while you're there. Bring your films and videos and help us save Texas history with your memories! Find more information at texasfilmroundup.org.

TAMI is also hosting a film screening at the Tascosa Drive-In Theater, featuring historical footage of the Panhandle, including a 1916 Charles Goodnight film, 1930s Dustbowl coverage, home movies, newsreels, and more! Gates open at 8 pm, and the show starts at sundown. Come early to see our film preservation exhibit before the show! Experience this fun community event and see the Yellow City on the big screen! How to Train Your Dragon 2 will follow our reel.

The Texas Archive of the Moving Image, a non-profit organization, discovers, preserves, makes accessible, and serves community interest in Texas film heritage. By partnering with institutions and individuals across the state, TAMI digitizes and provides web access to thousands of moving images that offer insight to Texas history and culture. Over two thousand of these films are available to view on the TAMI website, www.texasarchive.org.
